End of Term Letter

Please click here for a reminder of uniform expectations ready for September.

19th July, 2024

Dear Parent/Carer,

Summer has finally arrived!

Students have come to the end of a busy academic year. We proudly welcomed them to the Salter Scholar Awards ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate their graduation. Memorable visits this term have been to Norway as part of the World Challenge experience. Students were put through their paces on treks and having to spend time wild camping. Graduates of the Salter Scholar programme enjoyed a visit to Drayton Manor. Visits to the Birmingham Rep Theatre and participation in the Black Country Games and the OAT Cup also took place.

A Level and GCSE Results days will take place on Thursday 15th August and 22nd August respectively. Students will be welcomed from 9am to 11am, at reception to collect results. Career information, advice and guidance will be available from a wide range of staff on each of these days. We look forward to celebrating the next steps in their lives.

We will welcome students back on Wednesday 4th September and students are expected to return as follows:

Years 7 and Year 12: Arrive for an 8.40am start.

Year 7 students to use the PE gate at the end of Davey Road.

Year 12 students to use the P16 entrance on Dudley Street.

All other year groups: Arrive from the start of break at 10.50am for an 11.10am start

Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 to use the PE gate or Dudley Street entrance.

Year 13 students to use the P16 entrance on Dudley Street.

A reminder when purchasing uniform, we will continue to set high standards for all our students. Blazers will bear the school logo. Trousers and skirts must be black. Leggings or any style of tracksuit bottom are not accepted. Skirts must be knee length and not made of a material that clings to the body. Trainers are not acceptable footwear, shoes must be black. Any student not adhering to our expectations will be challenged upon arrival, in September.  Further information relating to this will be posted on our website and via social media.

Lastly we would like to wish Ms K. Kelly all the best in her retirement. She started her teaching career at George Salter in 1979 and has spent the last 44 years improving the life chances of our students. This length of service to the community is almost unheard of.

We wish everyone a wonderful summer holiday, enjoy the sunshine.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R. Bellingham
