New Year 7 Transition Arrangements 2024/25

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are excited to welcome your child to George Salter Academy. We understand the transition to Secondary school can be a daunting prospect and one we want to support you and your child in. Over the coming weeks, you will receive more information regarding transition. We intend to do this gradually to not overwhelm you with information. You will soon receive a formal welcome letter with more details and we would ask that you also please keep up to date with the Academy social media pages and website where updates will also be shared.

In preparation for your child’s arrival, we would ask that you please follow the link below to complete your child’s admission forms to George Salter Academy. Please ensure this is completed by Friday 28th June 2024.

Two Induction Days for your child will be held on Wednesday 3rd July and Thursday 4th July 2024.  Further details of arrival and departure times will be sent out in due course.  Lunch and refreshments will be provided, free of charge, on these two days. However, students are welcome to bring their own packed lunch.  Normal school uniform (as per primary school) should be worn for these days and your child will also require trainers to be packed in their bags for some PE based activities.

Some students, such as those with additional learning requirements or those attending as the solo child from their school, may be invited to an additional day at the Academy on Tuesday 2nd July 2024, to aid their transition. This will be by invitation only and, if applicable, you will receive details after half term.

A Welcome Evening has also been arranged for Wednesday 3rd July. You will be allocated a starting time on your welcome letter. At the evening, you will have the opportunity to meet the Senior Principal, Head of School, Year 7 Head of Year, student welfare manager and other key staff in the academy including your child’s form tutor. There will also be a chance to meet the Senior Leadership of the academy with refreshments.

During the welcome evening you will have a chance to book a time slot with Clive Marks to attend the private uniform sale. Uniform can also be  purchased from the ‘Clive Marks’ Website by following the link below. If you do purchase uniform prior to the ‘Welcome Evening’ we would ask that you DO NOT purchase a school tie as this will be gifted to your child during the transition week where they will find out what house they will be in.

Many thanks and we look forward to welcoming you to GSA.

Kind regards
