The results from the 2021/22 examination series are the strongest in the school’s history and continue the upward trend which has been achieved over the last five years. A record 44% of students achieved the higher grades in both English and Maths and there was exceptional success in English, Maths, Science, Chemistry, History, PE, Art, Photography, Dance and Child Development.
Having confronted head-on the many challenges of the pandemic, staff and students have delighted in the opportunity to come together and mark the superb achievements of all the students, who have worked exceptionally hard over the past couple of years to secure these outstanding grades.
Alongside the continued success of the academy, some particular individual highlights include:
The academy is also extremely proud of Ben Keeling, whose dedication has been rewarded with Grade fours in English, Maths, Science, Photography and a Merit in Catering after a great deal of hard-work.

“Despite the challenges presented over the last few years, I am absolutely thrilled for all the students who have got the results that they needed and wish them all the very best. These results show improvement from the last time full examinations were taken in 2019, and have improved on the last two years as well. The number of students who have achieved Grades 5 or higher in their subjects has also increased and, given the challenges of the pandemic, this is simply sensational. I always feel privileged to lead this fabulous academy and am simply in awe of the resilience of the wonderful students and dedicated staff.
“Our students should take great pride in their achievements which are very well deserved. We are all aware of the incredible hard work that they have put into their studies during their time with us and we are extremely proud. I also want to thank you excDespite the challenges presented over the last few years, I am absolutely thrilled for all the students who have got the results that they needed and wish them all the very best. Post 16 students at George Salter, are celebrating today after receiving their results, enabling them to secure places at their chosen/prestigious universities, on coveted apprenticeships and selected jobs.
The sixth form students have achieved some excellent results which reflect the hard work and commitment shown to their studies throughout the COVID and beyond. Attendance rates at the academy have been above the national figure every week of the academic year.

Alongside the continued success of the academy, some particular individual highlights include:
Many of those students who were new to the fabulous George Salter and joined our post 16 as external entrants did extremely well. We are particularly delighted for Chennaie Ledford who achieved B grades in English Literature and Sociology.
There were particularly strong performances in English Literature, Law, and Business. Given the impact of the pandemic on the creative and expressive arts, the academy is proud of the great progress and achievements in Art, Photography, PE, Dance and Catering. Similarly, the much better than expected progress in Health and Social Care and Child Development is excellent, given the restricted opportunities for work experience in these areas.
