Key Stage 4 Visit to The Globe Theatre, Tuesday 18 March 2025.
An exciting day was had by all staff and students attending the English Department’s visit to London this week. Accompanied by our Headteacher, Mrs Bellingham, a wonderful travel guide pointing out the cultural aspects of our capital city, the students made their way through Chelsea, alongside the Thames and through Parliament Square where Big Ben stood splendid in all its glory post-cleaning. Having arrived at The Globe, students were treated to a performance of their set GCSE text, Macbeth, where they stood as ‘groundlings’ in the Yard.
After the excitement of the play and the gruesome murders that Macbeth committed in his role as ‘dead butcher’, we departed London with a final stop on the way home for our students observing Ramadan to break their fast. For some of the students, this was the first time they had been to watch a Shakespeare play – it certainly won’t be the last!
