Letter for Parents/Carers - Importance of Punctuality

3rd February,2025

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Re: Importance of Punctuality

I hope this letter finds you well. At George Salter Academy, we place great importance on punctuality as a key factor in academic success and personal development. Being on time not only ensures that students make the most of their learning opportunities but also instils responsibility and discipline values that will benefit them throughout life.

Punctuality is crucial as lateness disrupts lessons, affects the learning environment, and can impact students’ overall progress. Morning registration and the first lesson of the day set the tone for effective learning, making it essential that students arrive on time, ready to engage.

We kindly remind all parents and carers to support their children in developing good habits by ensuring they leave home in sufficient time to arrive before the start of the school day at 8.35am.  Persistent lateness will result in follow-up actions in line with our attendance & behaviour policy, including loss of social time, meetings with parents and additional sessions to compensate for the loss of learning.

If your child is having trouble with punctuality due to exceptional circumstances, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Form Tutor, Head of Year or Student Welfare Manager to discuss how we can best support you.

Thank you for your cooperation in reinforcing the importance of punctuality and helping us maintain a positive learning environment for all students.

Yours sincerely,

R. Bellingham
