Year 11 and 13 Public Examinations 2024

RE: Year 11 and 13 Public Examinations 2024                                                          24th April 2024

Dear Parent/Carer,

With this year’s public examinations fast approaching, I wanted to provide clear guidance as to how the examination process will work at the academy, including the times of exams and expectations we have of our students during this time.

Students have already been issued with their personalised examination timetable, which also has their designated seat number. I have attached an overview of the exam timetable at the end of this letter. Where possible, morning and afterschool revision sessions will take place to support students. Students will be informed where to go for these sessions.

Exam Timings

AM:

  • Breakfast provided in the canteen from 8am
  • Students attend registration at the usual time and collect their mark
  • Students will then line up on the Basketball courts at 8.45am
  • AM exams will start at 9am (unless stated otherwise on your child’s timetable)

PM:

  • Lunch will be at the normal time of 12.50pm
  • Students will then line up on the Basketball courts at 1.20pm
  • PM exams will start at 1.30pm (unless stated otherwise on your child’s timetable)

* Please note, some exam candidates may have a clash with multiple exams taking place at the same time. In this case, students will be aware of this on their exam timetable. As a result, students may finish much later than the normal school day.

Student Expectations

  • Be in full school uniform for your exams
  • Ensure you know your timetable and seat number
  • Arrive at the exam venue at the times given above
  • To not have any form of communication with anyone when in the exam venue
  • To not have a mobile phone, smart watch, or analogue watch in the exam venue
  • KS5 students must remove lanyards prior to entering the examination venue
  • To return straight to normal timetabled lesson after you have finished an exam

As a school, we are bound by JCQ’s (Joint Council for Qualifications) rules and regulations for administering examinations. The following warning must be adhered to by all candidates and will be displayed outside each examination venue.

Exam Contingency Day

For the June 2024 exams, the awarding bodies have introduced two additional half-day contingency sessions. These are on Thursday 6 June 2024 and Thursday 13 June 2024. The standard contingency day remains at the end of the timetable being scheduled on Wednesday 26 June 2024 across the whole country. Students must be available for these dates.

Exam Results Days 2024

The examination results days for 2024 are as follows:

A-Level- Thursday 15th August

GCSE- Thursday 22nd August

Further information regarding the timings will be updated on our website closer to the time. Results will be issued to students, in person, on this date. Results will not be given to anyone else, including parents/guardians, without written permission from the student. Any parent/guardian with written permission to collect results, must provide photo ID on results day. Results will not be issued over the phone or by email.

We would like to wish all students the very best during the examination season.

Thanks you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mr G Uppal

Assistant Principal
