Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you and your child have been enjoying the summer break so far. It has been an immensely proud fortnight for our academy, watching our Year 11 and Year 13 cohort collect their very well-deserved examination results.
Ahead of the new academic year, I wanted to inform you of some interim leadership changes which are taking place at the academy. From September and for a period of time, I will be overseeing nearby Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy (OSCA), which is similarly part of the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) family. This is in light of the academy’s Principal leaving, and a recruitment campaign being launched to appoint a permanent Principal at the earliest opportunity. I will be in place at OSCA until this is completed, to support the school through this transition.
As such, I will be based at OSCA, but George Salter Academy will of course continue to be my priority alongside this interim role. To ensure the continued smooth running of the school, Vice Principal Ms Rupi Bellingham will assume the role of Head of School, and will continue to work closely with myself, staff, students and parents, as we enter the next academic year. We will also continue to receive enhanced leadership support from Natasha Rancins, as Education Director for OAT West.
I appreciate that this does present a slight change for our school, but with these strong leadership arrangements in place I expect there to be no impact on the day-to-day running of our academy, or on the quality of teaching and learning being delivered.
Given that OSCA is in the early stages of its recruitment process, it is not yet confirmed how long I will be supporting the academy for, but I expect it to be for at least the first term. I will of course keep you updated with any developments, however, as and when.
