GCSE Results Day Success

Sensational examination success at George Salter Academy!

Students at George Salter, which is in West Bromwich, are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, as they get ready to take their next steps in their education journey.

The results from the 2021/22 examination series are the strongest in the school’s history and continue the upward trend which has been achieved over the last five years.

A record 44% of students achieved the higher grades in both English and Maths and there was exceptional success in English, Maths, Science, Chemistry, History, PE, Art, Photography, Dance and Child Development.

Having confronted head-on the many challenges of the pandemic, staff and students have delighted in the opportunity to come together and mark the superb achievements of all the students, who have worked exceptionally hard over the past couple of years to secure these outstanding grades.

Alongside the continued success of the academy, which is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), some particular individual highlights include:

  • Liam M who achieved 10 Grade 9’s
  • Ksawery S who secured two Grade 9s, seven Grade 8s and Distinction *
  • Cody E attained three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s, and one grade 7
  • Raqeebat L – seven Grade 9s and one Grade 8
  • Sabera A – two Grade 9s, five Grade 7s, one Grade 7

The academy is also extremely proud of Ben Keeling, whose dedication has been rewarded with Grade fours in English, Maths, Science, Photography and a Merit in Catering after a great deal of hard-work.

Adrian Price, Principal at George Salter Academy, said:

“Despite the challenges presented over the last few years, I am absolutely thrilled for all the students who have got the results that they needed and wish them all the very best. These results show improvement from the last time full examinations were taken in 2019, and have improved on the last two years as well. The number of students who have achieved Grades 5 or higher in their subjects has also increased and, given the challenges of the pandemic, this is simply sensational.  I always feel privileged to lead this fabulous academy and am simply in awe of the resilience of the wonderful students and dedicated staff.

“Our students should take great pride in their achievements which are very well deserved.  We are all aware of the incredible hard work that they have put into their studies during their time with us and we are extremely proud. I also want to thank you excellent staff staff for going above and beyond to make sure that no member of our academy is disadvantaged and instead achieves beyond expectation.

“We are so proud to celebrate the success of our fabulous young people, wish them all the very best in the future and hope that they cherish their very special George Salter memories.”
