On Friday 9th October students celebrated World Mental Health Day.
Staff and students planned lots of fun and informative events to encourage discussion and further their own and others knowledge on mental health topics such as OCD, body image and depression. Year 10 and 12 students wrote out compliment and thank you cards to staff and students who have helped them in some way since the beginning of the school year. The students involved wanted to put a smile on people’s faces and show their peers that they are not alone and there is help available if they need it.
Staff also came together and wore yellow in support of the charity Young Minds, whose mission is to ensure all young people get the best possible mental health support.
“I think it’s important to raise awareness of the mental health support available to people, especially at the moment as there is a lot going on in the world.” Aysela Bunari
“We wanted to brighten up our fellow student’s day with a positive and kind message.” Sian James
“We decided to give out positive messages to students as a way of letting them know that whenever they are going through a difficult time, they are not alone.” Hanifa Khatun & Jamila Jannat Sumaiya
